Networking is one of the most important ingredients to economic success. PODIM is an inspiring event with a powerful network – that’s the reason why we as build! Gründerzentrum were also part of it. We know the importance of such big events and we are glad that in addition to startups from all over the Central Eastern European region, our incubated Carinthian founders attended PODIM as well (PiktID, Quantum Engineering GmbH, Swircle GmbH, Neednect, Pointify). Two of them pitched and presented their products to the expert jury.
The following incubated Carinthian startups pitched on Demo Day:
PiktID
PiktID offers an innovative and automatic tool, fostering the development of AI-based solutions to protect sensitive image data. The tool achieves that through a seamless replacement of faces in images with new, artificially generated ones without affecting the quality of the original picture. PiktID provides privacy for individuals who did not give consent to the usage of images including their personal data. Furthermore, they significantly reduce the overhead for companies required to comply with the GDPR
Expectations
What did you expect from the event?
“We expected to get a broader audience to pitch our product to, to network with other startups and investors and to learn new things in the workshops/webinars.”
Why did you want to take part at PODIM?
“PODIM was our first event of this size and importance. It was a great opportunity for us because PODIM is not limited to Austria, but spreads across several countries. We wanted to be able to pitch our startup to investors and take part in the pitching competition. Furthermore, we wanted to network and find potential collaborators.”
How did you prepare for the pitch?
“We attended the PODIM pitching workshop and took it as a basis to improve our current pitch deck.“
Quantum Engineering GmbH
„Poid“ is the world’s first product that can boil water using a battery (the target temperature can be set using the app). In just a few minutes, it can also heat up coffee and baby food, boil eggs, heat canned food and disinfect utensils (e.g. pacifiers).

What did you expect from the event?
“We hoped to get an insight about the latest trends in the startup scene and to connect with others.”
Why did you want to take part at PODIM?
“With the attendance at PODIM we tried to get more exposure.”
How did you prepare for the pitch?
“We always rehearse diligently in front of the mirror because that’s where you realize really quickly where there’s room for improvement.”
