John Clippinger

John Clippinger is an experienced entrepreneur, especially interested in the disruptive opportunities enabled through decentralized technologies such as crypto-currencies, smart contracts and distributed ledger technologies. Currently, he is a Research Scientist at the MIT Media Lab City Science Group, where he is working in the design of smart tokens to incentivize the transition to sustainable energy within cities and the creation of innovative and commons based economies within cities. Additionally, he is a Co-Founder at BioForm Labs as well as advisor at several companies. Throughout his career he held senior positions in government, large enterprises and founded 4 software companies. He has been engaged with non profit organizations and institutes, among them World Economic Forum, Kauffman Foundation … and has started new programs and institutes at Harvard and Harvard Law School, Brandeis Florence Heller School, MIT Media Lab, as well as co-founded ID3. He also co-founded the Token Commons Foundation in Zug Switzerland. He is the author of several books, the latest “From Bitcoin to Burning Man and Beyond”.
