SATELLITE #6 EVENT: The Future of Cloud

What the future of cloud computing brings?

The warming up for the Podim DX 2022 has just started with the 6th Podim DX Satellite event »The Future of Cloud« with 4 very interesting guests: Dr. Matjaž B. Jurič, renowned cloud expert, entrepreneur and professor, Tomaž Levak, co-founder of Origintrail, Julij Božič, ROMASI Technology Cloud Leader and Oracle Slovenia Country Leader and Matija Nakič, co-founder of cloud-based startup Farseer.

Below you can find some highlights from a very interesting discussion about key trends shaping cloud computing and the business opportunities related to it.

Cloud computing brings great advantages for companies

  • Time-to-market (agility): With cloud computing each company is able to develop software application in a shorter time and with less stress than with traditional technologies.
  • Scalability: Cloud computing is a platform that allows everybody to develop cloud solutions and scale almost infinetly without making large investment beforehand.
  • Cost optimisation: You pay only for resources that you are using.

Develop software in the cloud native way
In many cases startups with great ideas and developed solutions just failed, because solutions were not cloud native and not designed to scale. Therefore, developing software in the cloud native way will be very important in the future.

Data is the gold of the 21st century
And cloud computing provides new ways and possibilities, how we can collect data. In the future it will provide easier accessibility of data for all kind of organisations. It is becoming more and more important to store and manage the data locally.

Multi-cloud approach
The most important trend in cloud computing is multi-cloud approach. It is technology approach which focuses on building architecture where a company can use multiple public cloud vendors. This allows us to be vendor independent and also flexible.

Edge computing and Fog computing
Another important trends in cloud computing are Edge computing and Fog computing. They allow us to process data, but not in cloud computing data centers but on devices themselves – on the network edge or in the middle of network. And so data does not need to travel. This is something that will be important in designing of new applications and new business models on the cloud computing.

Blockchain and cloud computing
Blockchain and cloud computing have several important connections. We expect in the future that those technologies will emerge and cloud computing will develop in decentralized cloud approach.

Oracle with great support for startups
Oracle is offering great solutions also for startups, helping them from the very beginning in the field of technology, spreading abroad through Oracle ecosystem, offering support. Great example of this cooperation is OriginTrail which had also possibility tobe exposed to the Oracle European Community.

Are you ready for the future?

Cloud computing is a large industry that is growing and will stay with us for at least 10 or 20 years. In the next few years the biggest challenge will be how to technically develop applications that will really utilise the cloud infrastructure and its platforms on its best. Are you ready?
